One of Rio Blanco County's main industry is the Oil and Gas sector.  The Energy  Administration, Office
of Oil and Gas, September 2009 report there will likely be nine large Natural Gas Pipeline Local
Expansion Projects from 2009-2011 in the Piceance Area of Rio Blanco County, Colorado.  They also
report that the pipeline infrastructure expansion activity in the lower 48 states will likely remain
elevated, with most activity dedicated to increasing capacity from the Rockies to the major consuming
areas of the east.  Rio Blanco is listed as one of the top three counties in oil production in Colorado by
the Colorado Petroleum Association.
